Brand Introduction & Deployment

It takes a delicate hand to successfully introduce a brand into Second Life and deploy your metaverse campaign. Second Life, as well as other 3D worlds are highly-structured, yet remarkably fluid social environments. What worked in your latest viral video or guerrilla street marketing campaign will not work in Second Life.

Island Development

All corporate presences require at least one island. An island gives the benefits of controlled access, server integrity and no noisy neigbors with strip bars. The island becomes your center for events, promotions and provides the foundation for your brand strangth in Second Life.

Existing Island Repair and Revitalization

Not every company has a positive experience on their first time out in Second Life - account managers disappear, griefers (a form of hacker) move in and disrupte your build and sometimes the developer (and your island) simply vanish and the company is left in the lurch. If your build has problems, your island is not what it was meant to be or you just need to start from scratch, we can help - we can fix anything.

In-world Event Marketing

There is a lot of controversy as to the benefit Second Life can bring to a brand and some of that scepticism is warranted. In Second Life, there are many, very large and expensive builds, full of wondrous things with amazing designs that are absolutely devoid of any user activity whatsoever. They are totally empty. There is a reason for that and that reason is poor execution. Although Second Life is often referred to as a video game, branding your company in Second Life is not like traditional product placement you may see for X-Box or Playstation titles. In that respect it is not a video game but more of a social environment that responds best to traditional event marketing. Embracing the social structures and habits of "residents" of Second Life is vital to seeing a return on investment for your campaign.

In-world PR

A virtual world like Second Life offers many of the same advertising and marketing opportunities as real life - outdoor, print, and of course public relations. Second Life is very much a social animal - the mixture of public chats, instant messaging an now integrated VOIP and Skype, a solid public relations program will form the centerpiece of your Second Life campaign.

In-world Advertising

Within Second Life, garish outdoor advertising is regularly ignored and getting your advertising message out takes a very creative approach. Alternative advertising distribution is possible with in-world magazines and newspapers, along with the official Second Life classifieds.

Avatar Design, Production and Distribution

An avatar is a user's virtual representation of themselves in Second Life. They can be a regular looking human in a business suit, they may appear as battle droid or metallic racoon carrying a paintball bazooka. A promotion campaign may need a full avatar build for branded product characters such as ceral box characters or characters from television or motion pictures. But some campaigns may not need a full avatar design. A great example is Mercedes Benz - they give away motorsport jumpsuits and a racing helmet branded with the Mercedes logo.

Swag Bag Design, Production and Distribution

Everyone loves swag and the same holds true in Second Life. Most folks just put some cheap items in a bag and leave them laying around Second Life - rarely creative and filled with junk. Not the best way to build confidence in your brand. Our grab bags contain carefully crafted items, usually scripted, that will be of interest enough to residents to grab and keep.

Intellectual Property Misuse

Sadly, Second Life, as with any emergent techology, can be used for intellectual piracy. The main problem from a corporate viewpoint is anyone can make a replica of a company's product without the consent or notification of the company that owns the IP for the item. They can also use someone else's corporate identity and create new products branded with real life logos that they do not have the legal right to use. One of our growing service areas is helping real life companies discover IP violations, collect evidence, and identify user names of the creators.

General Consulting

Is Second Life for you? That is a good question. Some companies can make remarkable use of the opportunities offered by Second Life, others not so much. If you need some help making the decision, give us a call.
